C. Sampling Kits for Mark 3 and Mark 5 Pilat (UW) Cascade Impactors

PCSC recognizes that cascade impactor source sampling is greatly helped by having a number of cascade impactors because it reduces the turnaround time between tests and enables simultaneous testing with two or more sampling trains. Also, the variety of source testing situations (particle size distributions, particle mass concentrations, gas velocities, etc.) necessitate having some flexibility in choosing which cascade impactor (i.e. 7 jet stages in the Mark 3 casing, 11 jet stages in the Mark 5 casing, or 8-10 jet stages in the Mark 5 casing with the spacer used , etc.) to use. To meet these variable needs of the source tester, we have put together the sampling kits which contain 2 or more Pilat Cascade Impactors. These kits offer advantages with regards to price discounts compared to the individual cascade impactor prices. Note that the Mark 3 and Mark 5 Pilat (UW) Source Test Cascade Impactors have interchangeable parts (i.e. inlet sections, outlet sections, particle collection plates, impactor jet stages, substrates, etc. are all interchangeable) which helps improve the "user friendliness". The kits do not include the sampling nozzles because there are at least three different impactor inlet arrangements. The 3 inlet arrangements are: sampling nozzle connected to inlet section, Right Angle Inlet Section with two types of nozzles available (a longer nozzle and a shorter nozzle), and a Precutter with its special nozzles.

Item 1-1 CIS Kit (Complete Impactor Sampling Kit). Kit includes one Mark 5 Impactor (Item 5-1 @ $9,000) and one Mark 5 to 3 conversion kit (Item 5-4 @ $900) so that one can either sample with a Mark 3 or a Mark 5 impactor. F. Mark 8 High Grain Loading Cascade Impactor

This 3 stage cascade impactor is designed to collect larger amounts (grams) of particles such as might occur during the sampling of high (greater than 0.1 grains/acf) particle concentrations. This impactor can be used to collect larger amounts (grams) of particles which might be needed for later chemical analysis.

Item 8-1 The Mark 8 Impactor includes a special precutter inlet stage (single jet through the sampling nozzle), a stage 2 chamber, stage 3 chamber, and outlet section with thimble filter. This Mark 8 high Grain Loading Cascade Impactor divides the particles into 4 particle samples which are fractionated by particle diameter (cut diameters of 10.8, 5.8, and 1.5 microns at a gas sampling rate of 0.5 acfm at 70oF). Included are six sampling nozzles of 1/8", 3/16", 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", 1/2" diameters (same as Precutter nozzles).      ---------     $9,800.00
